Black Milk - Dismal

This beat is super smooth. New single off No Poison, No Paradise

- GC

Cam'ron - Ghetto Heaven Vol. 1

New mixtape from Cam'ron. Yeah the cover is terrible, but reserve your judgement. This is some vintage Cam. Sounds like some Purple Haze/Killa Season era type shit. I'm actually going to go ahead and say this is the best thing he's done since Purple Haze (a classic album by the way). Lyrics, flow, production, etc.... all on point. Go Outside is fucking great. Skits are classic Cam'ron. It's "Killa!"

- GC

Odd Future - Look

Tyler, Domo, Earl, & Hodgy all trade bars on this one. This is pretty cool cause these are the Odd Future's heavyweights. They can all hold their own on a song and have all released solid solo projects. Beat produced by Nottz.

-RA

Pusha T - My Name Is My Name (Album Stream)

My Name Is My Name from Pusha T on Myspace.

Hip Hop album of the year. I'm gonna go ahead and say it. King Push indeed.

-RA

Second Opinion

Okay yeah, this is really really good after one listen. Exceeded my expectations for sure, and they where already pretty high. Though I wouldn't say this better than Run The Jewels,  Twelve Reasons To Die or Acid Rap, so wouldn't call it hip-hop album of the year for me. Plus Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q are still on the way. Sorry to be that guy, but I had to say it.

Anyway, don't sleep on this. Already re-playing it the second time through this morning, some of this reminds me of vintage Clipse (Numbers On The Board especially, that track's grimy as fuck) . After one listen, Nostalgia, Hold On, King Push, & Numbers On The Board are the stand out tracks for me. Though it's a consistent album all the way through.

I will add, as I've been typing this up, I already am thinking it's better than I initially thought. So yeah, maybe this is the hip hop album of the year and I just haven't realized it yet...it's hard to say this early on.

You guys can stream the album for free above and decide for yourselves.

Vic Mensa - Innanetape

If you like Chance The Rapper, you'll probably really enjoy Vic Mensa. The two are good friends and have worked together plenty in the past. They helped each other develop their respective sounds, so obviously this tape reminded me a lot of Acid Rap.  A bunch of hype has been surrounding this guy for some time now. Today he finally released his debut tape, Innanetape. Features from Ab-Soul, Chance The Rapper, Rockie Fresh + more:

Here are a couple singles/videos from the tape:

- GC

Robb Bank$ - On Me

Robb Bank$ new single. His new tape Tha City drops October 1st:

- GC

Outkast - Aquemini [Album Stream] (15th Anniversary)

So today marks the 15th anniversary of the Outkast classic Aquemini. One of the best hip hop album's ever made, and one of my all time favorite's. Thought I'd post it for the occasion:

- GC

Fareoh - Applause (Fareoh Remix)

I'm not very keen on hearing Lady Gaga remixed anywhere, or really her music in general, however I'll make an exception for this. Only because Fareoh released this today. It's not his best track, but it's still alright. He deserve's more attention. Great producer. Check out his other work if you even remotely like this:

- GC

Blood Diamonds - Osaka

OWSLA's Blood Diamonds just dropped this track via sound cloud. Really chill song:

Meek Mill - Dreamchasers 3

The third installment in Meek Mill's Dreamchaser series dropped today. Expect a few bangers, but this definitely could have been better

- GC

Danny Brown - Dope Fiend Rental (Ft. Schoolboy Q)

This track will be on Danny Brown's upcoming album Old, dropping October 8th. Schoolboy Q came correct. Hopefully the whole album sounds something like this:

The Killers and M83 - Shot At The Night (Video)

Great song, great video. The Killers are coming out with their next album, Direct Hits, on November 11th.

-RA

Pusha T - King Push

I honestly can't wait for this album. October 8th can't get here soon enough. I like the visuals on this one.

Fun fact: The beat was produced by MOTHERFUCKING Joaquin Phoenix. Yes, the actor. Yes, this guy.

- RA

Oddisee - Own Appeal

So Reddit introduced me to this pretty neat site. Thefindmag.com

I've been on it a ton recently and it's fucking awesome. First time hearing about this guy. Pretty jazzy and I really like his flow.

This website's going in my bookmarks for sure.

-RA

Meek Mill - Make Me

DC

Never been a die hard fan of Meek Mill, but I really really enjoy his Dreamchasers tapes. I don't usually like it when Meek autotunes it up, but it's not too shabby this go around. Dreamchasers 3 comes out this Sunday.

-RA

Raekwon - Marble Cake (Pound Cake freestyle)

Now that I've heard multiple flows over this beat it's quickly become one of my favorites of the year. Raekwon is smooth mannnn

King Chip - Some Hoes

New track King Chip aka Chip Tha Ripper posted today:

Deltron 3030 Event II - Streaming Now!

Been waiting years for this one! Deltron 3030 is a hip-hop group composed of hip hop legend Del The Funkee Homosapien, producer Dan The Automator, and Kid Koala. One of the most important acts in alternative hip hop, shattering boundaries and concepts of what hip hop should sound like. Their debut album, Deltron 3030, was released in 2000, and is a concept album set in the year 3030. It's definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. It has a futuristic, alternative feel to it. Filled with outer space themes, and help from funk legend George Clinton, Sun Ra + more.

This is the long awaited follow up to that album, been in the making for years. I can't embed the website, but you can stream the whole album for free by clicking this link:

Here's a video for City Rising From The Ashes

- GC

Guilty Simpson & Small Professor - Highway Robbery (Stream)

New under the radar collaboration concept album, from rapper Guilty Simpson & producer Small Professor. Never heard of Small Professor before this, but Guilty Simpson is usually pretty nice. It's not very long. Check it out:

- GC

Blu - The Clean Hand (Twit One Remix)

The beat was originally by Pete Rock and even though that may be tough to beat, this Twit One remix gets the job done. Way more of a mellow feel for this track. Love the brass in the background.

-RA

Schoolboy Q - Banger

This guy's really damn good at making songs that'll grow on you. I heard this last night for my first time and not gonna lie I wasn't feeling it too much, but after a while this shit bumps. Oxymoron's gonna be dope. Beat produced by The Renegades.

Two new free tapes from Bassnectar! Here's side one:

And side two, enjoy:

- GC

Lupe Fiasco - Pound Of Flesh/Paris, Tokyo 2

Lupe is on a roll! Good beat selection. Honestly I think it's better than the original but I'm partial to this guy. Can Food and Liquor Part 2 Part 2 drop already? See what I did there?

Drake - Hold On, We're Going Home (Video)

Great song and even better video. The cameo in the beginning is pretty sweet. NWTS was released today.

-RA

Clams Casino - Crystals (GTA V Soundtrack)

Listen to this through some good headphones. It will change everything.

-RA

A$ap Rocky - R. Cali (GTA Soundtrack)

This song is fucking fire!! I mean, I knew it was good before, but getting to hear it all the way through without a  shootout or something else interrupting it definitely makes it that much better. Bars on bars.

-RA

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience Part II Stream

Justin-Timberlake-2-of-2

JT is the man. The production is incredible throughout the whole project. The Jay Z feature is aiiite, I feel like he could've done better. Kind of just sounded like a throwaway verse that didn't really make the cut for an earlier project. Drake on the other hand fucking murders it. That dude can kill a feature. I love how Justin has those beat change ups in almost about every song. I'm gonna be listening to this for a while.

The second single off of Justin's upcoming project 20/20 Experience Pt. 2. Produced by Timbaland. Personally I think it's a little bland but I'm still excited for the project nonetheless.

Jhene Aiko - Bed Peace feat. Childish Gambino

This girls got talent. The first time I heard her was on Kendrick's Section .80 but I'm glad to see her coming into her own. The Gambino feature is on point as always. Her first EP "Sail Out" will be expected October 29th.

-RA

Logic - Two Kings ft. King Chip

Really feeling this hook. King Chip kills it.

James Blake - Life Round Here (feat. Chance, The Rapper)

No idea who this James Blake guy is. But I just saw the Chance feature and decided to give it a listen. Chance has a style and flow that can literally go over any beat. Good song.

-RA

Second Opinion

You of all people should know who James Blake is.....

He makes great music, and so does Chance...awesome song

Pusha T - Nostealgia feat. Kendrick Lamar

Another cut off My Name Is My Name. Kendrick kills it, but that's nothing new. I'm so fucking stoked for this album. The production for every single song has been on point. Can't wait.

MGMT - MGMT

MGMT is streaming it's self titled third LP. Out tomorrow, it's their most experimental to date. You can listen here:

Lead Single:

- GC

Deadmau5 - Strobe (Anti-Edit)

Anti Edit of the Deadmau5 classic Strobe. Found on soundcloud, this is incredible:

The Killers & M83 - Shot At The Night

On November 11th, The Killers will celebrate their 10th anniversary by releasing their first greatest hits album, entitled Direct Hits. It will be composed of material from their first four albums, as well as a few new tracks.

Amongst the new songs is this track, entitled Shot At The Night. It's a collaboration between The Killers and M83. Pretty sure it's either sampling or paying homage to The Talking Heads Once In A Lifetime. Either way it's awesome.

- GC

Danny Brown - Side A (Old)

Only two more weeks until Danny Brown's debut album Old. Here's another single:

Clear Soul Forces - Gold PP7's

New tape from the up and coming Detroit hip-hop group, Clear Soul Forces. Stream's up today, album out tomorrow.

The four man group was discovered and mentored by Royce da 5'9". They take the 90's golden era sound and modernize it, with some Detroit influence thrown in.  Great tape that shouldn't be overlooked. This is the follow up to their Detroit Revolutions LP.

Beautiful Lou (ft. Action Bronson & Riff Raff) - Long Pinky

Action Bronson & Riff Raff team up once again, this time along side producer Beautiful Lou. Last time, the two teamed up with Harry Fraud and dropped Bird On A Wire, one of last year's best hip hop singles. So obviously, I had high expectations for this track. It's pretty good, not as good as Bird On A Wire, but few tracks are. Check it out:

Bee Gees - Tragedy (Forever Kidd Remix)

Old school funky disco feel. My dad loved the Bee Gees and would always play them around me growing up so I'm pretty partial to them.

- RA

MellowHigh - In The Meantime

MellowHigh - "Troublesome2013" (video)

Domo, Hodgy, and Left Brain make a deadly combination. They're dropping they're self titled album on Halloween. Pretty stoked.

Drake - Wu-Tang Forever

drakenwts

So far so good Drake...I'm getting more and more excited for this album.

-RA

Wale - Black Grammy's [feat. Meek Mill, Rockie Fresh, and J. Cole]

Maybach Music Group Self Made 3 Download

Personally, I like the Self Made series. Individually I think the rappers are a little better than average, but together I think they're pretty enjoyable to listen to. Beat is pretty sweet too. I like the soulfoul production. Meek Mill raps like he's in a helicopter. J. Cole and Rockie kill it.

-RA

Second Opinion

Wale is so fucking corny and gay. Sorry. Everyone else is good here though.

- GC

Young Chop - I Ain't Gotta Say Shit feat. Juicy J

Young Chop is such a goodass producer man....

-RA

Second Opinion

This is off Young Chop's new tape, which has a song with Freddie Gibbs on it I wanted to post as well

Jack Beats - Just a Beat (A-Trak Remix)

Another new remix from A-Trak. Remixing Jack Beats "Just a Beat",  A-Trak comes through once again with another quality remix. A-Trak's been on a role lately, from his remix of Kavinsky’s “Oddlook” to his disco-tinged touches on Phoenix’s “Trying To Be Cool.”

Danny Brown - ODB (Music Video)

First video for a song off Danny Brown's upcoming debut studio album Old. The albums been in the making for a while, it should be one of the better album's to come out this year. Song's titled ODB, paying homage to the late great Old Dirty Bastard.

Really crazy visuals and a dope ass beat. Sounds like the producer summoned J Dilla and took LSD simultaneously.

  - GC

Smoke DZA - City of Dreams

a 9/11 tribute song from Smoke DZA. Sending our condolences to the families/friends of those lost that day.

- GC

Flatbush Zombies - Better Off Dead

New mixtape just dropped from the Flatbush Zombies. Should be a quality tape if it's anything close to as good as their last.

-GC

Lupe Fiasco - Peace of Paper/Cup of Jayzus

Lupe's been putting out some straight up fire recently. He spits all the way through. Bars on bars. I wanna find out who produced this.

-RA

Side Rant;

I can't stand it when people talk shit about Lupe Fiasco. Sure F&L II wasn't his best but it still wasn't bad. I still liked it as a matter of fact and I still bump it every once in a while. Just one of those rappers that always undergo a lot of criticism due to their lyrical style as opposed to a sort of catchy feel. I personally can't wait until F&L II. Lupe's in my top ten, he has been, and he's not going anywhere.

All that being said that's just my opinion.

-RA

Feed Me - Rat Trap (new single)/ Upcoming debut album Calamari Tuesday on the way

New single from Feed Me, off his upcoming debut studio album Calamari Tuesday. The album will feature 15 brand new tracks and will be Feed Me's debut studio album via his new label, Sotto Voce. Album is set to be released October 14th, crazy news, considering Feed Me was supposed to be taking a musical hiatus. If this single is any indication of what the album will sound like, consider me extremely hyped.

(Mixtape) Kanye West & The Beatles - What's a Black Beatle

KANYE WEST & THE BEATLES

Ok so this actually came out in early August but I never got around to posting about it, but this is such an amazing listen. I haven't heard a mashup project this good since Danger Mouse's Grey Album. As a matter of fact, I like this one better. Maybe it's cause I'm more of a Kanye fan. MUST LISTEN to Hey Jude, We Major. It gave me goosebumps on the initial drop.

Other standout songs; Because You Can't, A Day In Mama's Life, Stay Up For Rita, Soutside My Dear

-RA

Bun B - Fire feat. Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and Serani

This beat is super cliche but I don't mind because everyone kills it. The hook is sweet too. This is the first single off of Bun's next album Trill 4 Life.

-RA

Drake - Hold On, We're Going Home (Kastle Remix)

I really like the whole feel of this.

Astro - Starvin Like Marvin For A Cool J Song

Download Mixtape | Free Mixtapes Powered by DatPiff.com

I remember first hearing/seeing about Astro on Yahoo news after he had his famous audition run on American Idol or America's got talent or something of that sort. When I saw his mixtape available for download the name kinda rung a bell. Turns out this mixtape was surprisingly good. Lot's of beats from Statik Selektah and others making for a real Brooklyn feel throughout the tape.

Some standout songs.
Didn't Know, Stranger, Brooklyn/Afro, Crazy, Don't Stop

-RA

Rapsody - Lonely Thoughts Remix feat. Chance, The Rapper & Big K.R.I.T

She added a K.R.I.T verse and it's KILLER. I love this beat, but not gonna lie I still cringe a little every time I hear a female on a track but that's just me.

- RA

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis White Walls Music Video

My favorite cut off his last album The Heist. Cool cameos from Wiz, Trinidad James, A$ap, and some others. Pretty freakin sweet video as is usually the case with his work.

- RA

Kanye West - Bound 2 (Live on Jimmy Fallon feat. Charlie Wilson & The Roots)

This was my first time seeing Charlie Wilson perform and he sounds exactly like he does in the recording which is pretty noteworthy on it's own. This was my favorite track off of Yeezus so when Kanye made it the second single I was pretty excited. Can't wait to see him live in Dallas on December 6th.

New tape from Curren$y &Young Roddy. Really good production on here per usual.

Denzel Curry - Nostalgic 64 [Album Stream]

So there's been a lot of high profile releases in hip hop the past couple weeks, such as new projects from Big Sean (lol),  Lil Wayne (lol), or The Weeknd, but this project probably flew over most heads, so I'm going to post it here. Denzel Curry is a Florida rapper who formerly was a member of the Raider Klan with Spaceghostpurrp, Lil Ugly Mane and others. He has his own unique style, similar to other members of the Raider Klan, which may not be for everyone. If you're into old school Three-Six Mafia or lo-fi, than this tape is for you.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Deeper

One of the best rappers from the current generation, Freddie Gibbs, teams up once again with one of the best (and most overlooked) producers, Madlib. The duo already has released two quality EP's together, the Thuggin and Shame EP's.  Here's a track off their forthcoming third EP together, Deeper.

Action Bronson - Drug Shit

Random Action Bronson track that just surfaced on the internet, not sure what project it'll end up on, if any. Nevertheless, Action Bronson always delivers. Check it out:

Man...Ab's been on fire lately. Never heard of the features on this track prior to it, but they're not bad. The hook's smooth too.

Big K.R.I.T - Just Last Week Feat. Future

Krizzle's back. This was a preview on his last mixtape, but he finally decided to release the full version. I don't really like Future in anything so that's that. But the verses are solid as fuck.

Mysteryland Announces Debut American Festival At Original Woodstock Location

Tommorowland won't be the only highly touted European festival to make it's debut in the USA this year. Well, technically next year, but not too far away! Next memorial day, the Netherlands 3 day festival will make it's debut in America, at the original location of Woodstock 1969. Attendance will be limited to 20,000 per day, but this should be well worth it for anyone fortunate enough to attend.

New Pendulum Album On The Way

Rob Swire from Knife Party took to twitter to announce that the duos formerly disbanded Pendulum project would soon be making it's return from their 4 year hiatus, after the next Knife Party album. Swizz Beatz - Hands Up feat. Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, & Lil Wayne

Not gonna lie, when I first saw this song and who all was featured on it, I thought it was gonna be one of those Dj Khaled-esque songs that have no replay value. I was wrong. This is a pretty quality song with great verses from everyone (yes, including Wayne and Nicki). Over a dynamic beat that's constantly chaning up. Bravo Mr. Beatz.

-RA

Sorry to disagree but to me this sounds extremely generic...not a Swizz Beatz fan at all. Rick Ross and 2 Chainz do have cool verses but there is no substance here...

Lupe Fiasco - SLR 3 (Round Of Applause)

Lupe's been coming out with a lot of new material lately! This just dropped about a couple days after SLR 2. He's also been stepping up his game and returning to his former Lupe style as of late. Hopefully his Great American Rap Album Part 2 is better than the first one. Until then, these singles he's been putting out are fire.

Zeds Dead's Altered States Summer Mix

I usually don't listen to mixes all the way through but this one managed to hold my attention all the way until the end. There's a little something for everyone in this mix. Zeds Dead will be performing in Dallas on Halloween.

Baauer teams up with Just Blaze for his follow up production to "Harlem Shake". Samples Jay-Z lines from "U Don't Know" off The Blueprint (song's coincidentally produced by Just Blaze). Baauer proves he's more than a one hit wonder with this one. Cool song and video

Mat Zo - Pyramid Scheme

Officially released to Beatport today, Mat Zo releases another original production, "Pyramid Scheme", his first since "Easy" with Porter Robinson. An interesting sample is used, hip hop legend Chuck D from the group Public Enemy. The sample derives from their song "Can I Get A Witness." Mat Zo is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated producers in the edm industry right now. The song itself is just alright to me, but I'm a big fan of Mat Zo, so I decided to share anyway. Anyway, check it out for yourself...
